Newest Member of the "In Crowd"

Everyone says to enjoy every day when they are small because they grow up so fast. They are right. Elsie isn't even two weeks old and she is starting to change already.

Night before last she slept 4.5 hours straight, previous record was only 3.5 hours. Mom was grateful as sleep is at a premium these days. Last night she had a 4 hour stretch as well, so hopefully it's a pattern and not a fluke! (perhaps it was the half glass of red wine I had with dinner? :) Don't worry, the doctor said 1 glass a day won't do any harm.) She also slept most of last night in her crib, something we've been trying to get her used to but without much success. She looks so tiny sleeping alone in that huge crib...

Elsie is starting to enjoy tummy time more too. She is starting to lift her head on her own and hold it up for a few seconds. She does the same thing when she is propped up on my shoulder and I am burping her. --Have to be careful not to get head-butted though because when her little neck muscles get tired, her noggin comes crashing down.

Last, this morning Else officially became a member of the "in crowd". Ryan noticed at her morning diaper change that her umbilical stump had fallen off and it looks like she is going to have an innie. This means Elsie can do away with the cold sponge baths and can take a regular tub bath!

That's about all for now. We're learning what each of her cries mean and are trying to get into a routine of sorts - sometimes it's easier said than done. Ryan goes back to work tomorrow so it will be just be me and Elsie. Having Ryan home to help out has been a blessing, he's been so helpful and supportive for both of us.

Until next time-
Sarah
