Why is Elsie waking up in a hotel room in Coralville, Iowa? Let's back up and take a look at how our crazy week went.
On Monday, we took Owen to the doctor because he had a fever and had started getting spots on his arms, legs, feet, and midsection. The doctor said he had Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (it's really a virus, not a disease). Elsie had just started getting a fever too so she was diagnosed with the same thing, just a few days behind Owen. Both kids would have to stay home from preschool/daycare all week until the spots went away.

Fortunately the spots aren't painful and the fever fades after a couple of days, but Elsie was supposed to be the flower girl in our dear friends wedding on Saturday. It was a stressful week. Elsie never did get the spots as bad as Owen but she did have to stay home all week. We were pretty sure she wasn't going to be able to make the trip to Iowa with us and even made plans to take her to Grandma and Grandpa Casanova's house on our way to the wedding (Owen was already set to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Cox). Friday morning, about an hour before we were going to leave town, we decided that Elsie was good to go with us. She was SO excited because it meant that she would get to be in the wedding AND that she would get to stay in a hotel! Off we went!

| At the rehearsal after a long day on the road. |
| Saturday morning we hit the pool and joined Elsie's new friend, Landon. He is our friends Kenny and Jessica's son. |
| The motel had one heck of a water slide. Elsie LOVED it! |
| Finally time to get ready for the wedding and dawn her beautiful flower girl dress. |
| A little tired after pre-wedding pictures. No afternoon nap! |
| We used this t-shirt to protect Elsie's dress from the pre-wedding snacks in the church basement. |
| The church was beautiful and was even on the national historic register. Even better, it was on a gravel road way out in the country. Beautiful setting for a wedding. |
| Elsie did a great job as the flower girl. She was pooped though and fell alseep next to Mommy right in the middle of the service. :) |

| Recharged in time for the reception! |

| Getting down with Landon |
| The reception was fun, but it was getting late so Elsie headed back to the motel with Grandma and Grandpa. |

| Hitting the pool again on Sunday morning |
| Chillin' in the hot tub with Grandpa |
After hitting the pool on Sunday we loaded up, said our goodbyes, and headed back to KC. Grandma and Grandpa Cox brought Owen by after his nap. He had a really fun weekend with them and was very good boy. On Sunday, while Sarah, Elsie, and Grandma Cox were out, Owen was walking around talking like he usually does. Then it got really quiet. I turned around and this is what I saw. :)
On Monday, we grilled hot dogs for lunch, aired up the baby pool, and had a back yard party to celebrate Memorial Day. It was great to be back together as a family again. Elsie and Owen sure enjoyed it!
Congratulations to our friends David and Kristine!
