Spring Has Sprung

It's been a long time since the last post back in early February.  A lot has happened since then.  We had a cold spell that took up much of February.  It was below freezing for about two weeks.  During that time, the kids had a break from school and spent some time with Grandma Cas in Boonville.  They went back down again over their spring break in March and fortunately the weather was a little better.  Owen's 10th Birthday happened as well, and baseball and softball are starting up too.

Here we are freezing it out in Feb.  Think it was about 15 degrees this day, but that didn't stop the kiddos from enjoying it!

Spring break in March was still a bit chilly, but much more comfortable.  Grandma took the kids over to play mini-golf...

...and Owen found a dead squirrel!

It was kind of wet the whole time, so Elsie made these shoes.

Grandma Cas and Aunt Marylin came up the weekend before Owen's Birthday for lunch and presents.

Grandma got him a giant boat!

Just to be fair, Elsie got one too.  We'll have to see where we can use them this summer.

Owen's actual birthday fell on a school day, so he got to open presents and go out to dinner that night.

Elsie made this with her cricut printer to go on his new baseball helmet.

Owen got a giant bean bag too!

At Owen's request, we went to the Japanese grill for dinner.  This was the last place we had gone out to dinner before COVID lockdowns, so it was kind of fitting.

After dinner, Grandma and Grandpa Cox came over for cake and to wish Owen happy birthday.  They got him a sweet Royal's jersey with Owen's name and number on it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BUDDY!
Can't believe you are 10 years old already.

The following Friday, Owen had his birthday party.  It was a sleepover.  This time the boys didn't stay up ALL night.

Elsie had been practicing songs all winter for a band concert and they finally had it.  Besides the masks, it almost felt "normal."

Sarah rebuilt her garden.  It's much stronger than the old one, which was rotten.

Webelos had a 3mi hike, and we decided to do it at Kill Creek.  It had rained the previous day, so we had to stay on the pavement...but we still had fun!

Baseball and softball have started.  Owen has had a few games already, but Elsie has only had practices.

This is the first Golden Glove game for the Bombers.  They were competitive, but lost.  Owen had a very hard-hit ball to the outfield for a single and eventually scored.

Multitasking: practicing trumpet while dressed for softball practice.

Easter was last weekend, but it wasn't typical this year.  We celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa Cox, and Maddie, on Saturday night. We made pulled pork pizzas and played in the yard.
(Grandma Cas sent the package above full of Easter gifts)

The poor little bunny didn't make it...but he sure tasted good!

We had our traditional indoors egg hunt, but instead of baking a ham, we went out for a hike and had Freddy's for lunch.

It was a beautiful day, so we took advantage of it!

We saw quite a few bees, which Elsie didn't like.  And we saw 3 or 4 little snakes, which I didn't like. :)

Owen chucked his hat off the tower to see where the wind would take it.  It took it right to Elsie!

Elsie's turn!

It has steadily been warming up.  The days are getting nicer and the grass is getting greener.  Before long I will be complaining about how hot it is. :)

See ya,
Ryan
