Spring Break & Coronavirus

The schools made it to Spring Break before deciding that the Coronavirus threat was too much.  The kids were in Boonville visiting Grandma that week so we told them the news over the phone.  This was the week that everything changed.  Everything shut down and we were asked to begin working from home.  As far as the visit to Boonville goes, the kids and Grandma had fun even though the weather was poor.  I picked the kids up on Friday and just to be safe, I didn't even go in the house.  It is a strange time.  We spent the rest of the weekend stocking up so we could obey the two week stay at home order.  Time will tell if it worked...
Starting off the week indoors because of the icky weather.

Movie night!

Franklin Island!

The kids and Grandma had so much fun.  I am glad that they got to spend some time outside.  I fear it will be a while before we can go back to visit. :(

Meanwhile, in Olathe...
I've been working from the desk in the front room.  Sarah borrowed Owen's desk and has set up shop in the spare bedroom

When Elsie got back home she went right to work preparing herself.  :)

Home Schooling started on Monday.  We are trying to keep the kids busy until they start getting some curriculum from the school next week.  They have daily math time, crafts, science, reading, etc.

Science time is usually pretty fun.

Earlier this week Elsie asked Sarah if she would get her wedding dress out.  Looks great on Elsie, but I can definitely wait a few years to see her in a wedding dress again.
The kids made origami.

The weather was pretty nice the 2nd half of the week, so we got outside.  Rules are that you can't leave the driveway or back yard unless with a grownup.

This is a favorite pastime of the kids, spraying down the trampoline (and each other) with the hose.

We have been able to get out for walks or rides in the afternoon.  Owen and I went on a good ride last night.

Even found a place to practice off-roading.

For science class the other day, they did an egg drop.  Fun!

It has been hard to balance full-time jobs and being teachers.  The week seemed really long.  We spent a lot of family time together, which is great, but having the same scenery is going to get old.  Guess we'll have to adapt because school is definitely out for the year.

Stay safe!
Ryan
