Easter Weekend

Happy Easter!

This year we started out our Easter weekend by traveling to Boonville on Friday morning to visit Grandma and Grandpa Cas.  The day started out rainy but cleared up in the afternoon, so we went over to Franklin Island to throw rocks in the Missouri River.  What's more fun than that?

We explored the river bank and threw rocks for at least an hour.  Good times...

MUD RUN

Millie came along too.  This is her new "full-sized dog" travel crate.  Much to our surprise, she slept in it all night without making a peep, and also frequented it throughout the visit whenever she needed some personal time.  :)

Saturday morning we took a hike across the Missouri River Bridge.  About the time we got to Howard County (the middle) we heard a train whistle.  I spun around and said "OWEN!"  He looked at me with the biggest grin I've ever seen and TOOK OFF in a full sprint back towards the train track!  I swear I've never seen him run that fast.  We made it back in time to watch the 2nd half of a coal train go right underneath us.  After it was over, Owen said, "Daddy, that was the most awesome thing ever!"  I feel you, Owen.  I feel you....  :)

While we were catching the train, Elsie and Grandpa Cas walked almost all the way to the other side and back.

When we got back to Grandma's house it was time for the Easter egg hunt!

Millie did pretty good off-leash when we were there.  She doesn't venture too far from her people. 

We had a great visit in Boonville.  Lunch on Saturday was great and it was so nice to see family.  After lunch though, it was time to head back home.

Easter Sunday: the Easter Bunny visited our house overnight and left a few small gifts and eggs for the kids.

We went over to Grandma and Grandpa Cox's house for lunch on Sunday.  Lunch was great and again, it was great to spend time with family.  Of course the high point for the kids was the egg hunt!

Back in mid-March the kids were off school for Spring Break.  They each took separate multi-day excursions to Boonville.  Everyone got some great one-on-one time.  Elsie went the first half of the week and Owen went second.

Owen got to go to Franklin Island that trip too. 

While Owen was gone, Sarah made an apron for Elsie.  Elsie decided that it made a fabulous dress for Millie!
