Happy Birthday to my man Owen, who turned 4 years old this week! I can't believe he's getting so big! Last weekend we let him open one special present early. It was his first model train! Thanks to a tip from Grandpa Cox, I picked it up cheap at the Great Mall where a model train builder club was liquidating many of their sets. It worked out perfectly because it is a good quality brand, but since it was used it was pretty cheap and made a great starter set. So we let Owen open it, then took at trip to a train store to buy track.
| We only let him open the engine and control box early and saved the rest for his birthday. |
| Owen took some money from his savings with us to the train store and I talked him in to using it for an MKT (Katy) box car. |
| He got another two box cars, a coal car, and a caboose! |
| Here it is all put together. I spent all day Saturday building a train table, and we used big tupperwares for legs so it would be just the right height. :) |
| More gifts... |
| Mommy made a really neat cake! |
The following weekend, we had Owen's birthday party. We had family over for lunch, and then all of his friends from preschool and many of our neighbors were going to join us at Monkey Bizness...but 5 of his preschool friends got sick and couldn't come. :( We had fun nonetheless, but it's too bad they couldn't all make it.
| Grandma Cas brought up my old conductors hat from when I was little. It says "Pikes Peak" on the bill because we got it on a trip to Colorado when I was little. |
| I was challenged to a race by Jaden... |
| It did not end pretty. :) |
| Mommy outdid herself by making an AMAZINGLY COOL Digger cake! |
| We had a great time and all the kids had fun. Mission accomplished! |
Quick update on Millie... She's up to about 40lbs now and is still growing! We got a fence too, right before the weather started getting nice, so that's been really great. Millie has been loving the freedom of roaming around the yard, chasing rabbits, and eating mulch, sand, and potting soil. We've started taking her on some walks too and obedience classes start at the end of the month.
| RIP "ducky." That poor toy lasted about a day. |
| The kids only got one real snow to play in this year but they made the most of it. Owen dug holes... |
| ...and Elsie walked around eating snow. :) |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OWEN! WE WISH YOU MANY MORE!
Ryan, Sarah, and Elsie
