No Training Wheels!

This afternoon I was watching football, wishing the Chiefs were on, and then realized that this would be a perfect afternoon to work with Elsie on riding without training wheels.  So I asked Elsie, and at first she was not interested, but when I reassured her that I would NOT let her fall she said, "OK!"  We had the cul-de-sac all to ourselves and we started out with me holding her seat and jogging with her.  I let go for about 5ft and she couldn't believe that she'd done it.  After that it went quickly from 10ft to 20ft and more.  To our astonishment after about 20min of "training" she was doing circles around our cul-de-sac.  Sarah and I kept working with her and in a little bit more time she learned how to stop without falling over and how to stand into a pedal to get started...with no assistance at all!  By the end of the afternoon we were sitting on my tailgate watching as she would start out on top of the driveway and go down off the curb, zoom all the way down our street, turn around in the street, and come all the way back up our driveway into the garage.  WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER!  It was a goal of mine to help her lose the training wheels this fall.  Guess I can check that off the list!  :)

By the end she didn't need us around to help.  Notice Owen off to the left, farther down the street.

Speaking of the lil' guy, here he is with me in his sights!

Owen was napping while we were working with Elsie.  When he got up Elsie showed him her new trick and he was like, "Whoaaa...."  :)

Way to go, Elsie!

See ya,
Ryan, Sarah, Elsie, and Owen
