A Whole Lotta Owen

Sometimes you just end up with more pictures of one kid than the other.  That's kind of what happened this month.  Flag football started and fall baseball is in full swing, so Owen has been a busy guy.  Elsie is still playing softball, but the games just haven't generated a lot of pictures.  Add in Cub Scouts and our week nights and weekends have been booked pretty solid lately.  It'll slow down in a few weeks, but for now it's really fun.  The weather is nice and it's fun being outside spending family time together.

School has been going great for both kiddos.  Elsie is still at home.  She takes her computer downstairs for PE and always comes up out of breath, so they must be working pretty hard.  Owen enjoys going in person and being with his buddies.  Big news this week was that they can now use balls at recess! On to the sports extravaganza!

Multi-Sport Weekend #1
Grandma Cas was up for a big weekend of games.  Owen had a baseball game on Saturday and his first flag football game Sunday morning.  Elsie had a softball tournament that was three games on Saturday night, and ended up being one on Sunday.  What a weekend it was going to be!
Owen had a great baseball game and won the game ball.  He had two hits.  One was a bomb to right field.  After the game his coach said that Owen was going to be the lead off hitter!

Sunday morning was Owen's first flag football game.  I wasn't really sure what to expect.  They've played pretty good at practice but you never know how they measure up until the game. I just wanted them to have fun...AND THEY DID!

The coach did a good job rotating kids to keep them fresh.  Owen had a couple of touches and then this happened!  (see video)

The Mahomies won their first game 28-12.  Owen had TONS of fun too.  He's really glad that he decide to play.
Touchdown Triplets!

Saturday night, Elsie played three games.  The Bolts were not on their A-game and really struggled.  It was fun, but they lost all three games.  The pitching was not good and there was no run rule, so the games went really slowly.  I think Elsie batted 3-4 times in 3 games.  She got hit twice and walked.  Here she is scoring a run!

Multi-Sport Double-Header
Last weekend, Owen had a multi-sport double-header.  Baseball at 12:00 and football at 3:00.  Fun times!  The Bombers are playing "up" so they aren't going to win many games this fall.  On this day they lost.  On to the football game.

I think Owen was out there for the coin toss.

TOUCHDOWN!  MAHOMIES!

I am thrilled that Owen is taking so well to flag football.  The coach gave him the ball in some critical situations.  He had another catch like the one above, had a key run for a 1st down too.  We knew he was pretty fast, but MAN HE IS FAST!  Just roasting the other kids...and those juke moves are sick!

Two Games at the same time?
Today, we finally had a conflict.  Baseball at 12:00 and football at 1:30, half an hour away.  Since we signed up for football first (and fall ball doesn't keep stats) we decided to leave the baseball game early and make the football game on time.  Owen got to bat twice and walked both times.  Got stranded on 3rd both times.  The Bombers were losing big when we left, so I don't think we let the team down.
He's fast on the bases too (as is Elsie)

No videos today, but the Mahomies played great again!  They ended up tying a very good team 12-12.  Owen had two AWESOME touchdown runs and he got a bunch of carries.  He played defense good too and didn't rest the whole game.  My man was pooped!
Multi-Sport Man

Unrelated news...Owen had his first Fantasy Draft a few weeks ago.  He's in a league with his buddies from baseball and scouts.
They started digging behind our neighbors house.  They dug a second one to the right of this one.  These houses will be the back end of the long cul-de-sac in what used to be the field to the north of our house.

We had a fire pit last weekend and things got a little out of hand... :)

And then of course GO CHIEFS!!!

Here's to the start of fall!
