The Rest of January

Hi Everyone!

A lot has happened since Elsie's Birthday Party back in early January...

Sarah and I went to the Garmin Winter Event.  It was immediately following the Chiefs domination of the Colts in the Playoffs, so everyone was in a good mood.  Lots of fun, great talking to everyone.
It snowed about a foot!  By far the best snow we've had since the first winter we lived here.

Elsie and Sarah built this guy.  They named him "Andy" after Andy Reid.  :)  He was around for both Chiefs playoff games.

Owen got homeroom student of the month!

His teacher had such nice things to say about him
The last few weeks we've been working hard on our pinewood derby cars...

They turned out great!  Owen's is on the left and Elsie's is on the right.  Both kids sanded and painted their cars themselves.

Both derbies were at the same time, so Owen and I went to his (with Grandpa Cas and Grandpa Cox) and Sarah and Elsie went to hers (with Grandma Cas and Grandma Cox).

Lots of neat cars!

Front row seats!

Owen's car did ok this year.  He won a couple of races and was about middle of the pack in the final standings.  But most of all it was fun!  Afterwards we went back home for lunch and then it was off to India for me.

I really hated to miss Elsie's derby.  She won all 4 races against the cars she was paired against.  They determine the results electronically against all cars, though, so she didn't place for a medal.  But, she still did great!

It finally happened.  :(

Our house just looks naked without any trees.

Later,
Ryan, Sarah, Elsie, and Owen
