First Day of School and The Eclipse

School started last week.  Elsie was super-excited to go back.  She missed a lot of her friends and she just likes school in general.  Owen, on the other hand, was not super-excited for summer to be over.  He likes playing and running and wasn't exactly ready to get back into the classroom where he would have to sit still for long periods of time.  :)

We went by Elsie's classroom first and she sat down and got right to her morning work.  Just like an old pro...

...but Owen was still a little apprehensive.  He was nervous and not sure what exactly to expect,   But, I'm happy to report that the jitters passed and he had a great day!  In fact, he's had great days every day so far.

The night before school we had some rain and Elsie felt the need to play in it.

Last weekend, after two hard days of school, we relaxed by going to the pool.

THE ECLIPSE!!!

Boonville was in the path of totality, so we decided to take the kids out of school and view the great eclipse from Grandma and Grandpa Casanova's house.  We went down on Sunday afternoon and stayed thru the eclipse on Monday.  Traffic getting home wasn't too terribly bad, but we avoided I-70.

It got cloudy at the beginning, but the clouds dissipated enough for us to see most of it, including the AMAZING 2.5 minutes of totality.

Back to Olathe...

We are getting a new covered patio and expanding our patio.  Here the kids are in the holes for the footings.  :)

Back to Boonville...a few weeks ago

The kids went on a trip to Boonville the week before school started.  Grandma and Grandpa Cas were of course very happy to have them and had all sorts of activities planned.  First up was the Slip 'n' Slide!

They made goop

And swam at KK and Donnie's pool

And flipped water bottles...

and went to Chuckie Cheese...

and made "concoctions" with food coloring...

They had a great few days and it was amazingly quiet at our house.  :)
