Owen's 6th Birthday!

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY TO OWEN!!!

My man Owen, turned 6 big years old on Thursday.  He was so excited because a birthday means presents, and presents usually mean legos, and Owen LOVES legos.  :)  Elsie woke up early on the morning of his birthday and decorated the living room all by herself.  What a sweet big sister she is!  And when we got home from school there was a big present waiting in the living room.

He knew what it was immediately.  :)

An awesome new bike!

...and a new helmet that Owen picked out all by himself.  :)

After test driving his new bike, Owen settled down to open some presents.  He got some small Star Wars legos, a flashlight, and some shirts.

He also got a very cute homemade gift from Elsie.

This year Owen said that he wanted a cookie cake.  As usual, Mommy made it happen.

He was playing like he was mad, but inside he was all smiles.  :)

Owen's official birthday party was on Saturday at Pump It Up.  Snow was in the forecast and Grandma and Grandpa Cas were driving up from Boonville, so we were all (Millie included) keeping a close eye on the weather.  Fortunately, it didn't amount to much.

Owen loves nerf gun stuff too

Happy is an understatement!

It was great to watch Owen and all of his friends play and have together.  Owen got lots of fun toys, and even a few legos.

It is the start of Spring Break for the kids, so Elsie rode back to Boonville with Grandma and Grandpa Cas and Aunt Marilyn.  She is spending half the week there, and then Owen will spend the 2nd half of the week there.  2 minutes after they left, Owen and I got started on the train.  We worked on it all evening...

...and by bedtime we had it up and running.  But, there was still a lot left to do.

By the time that I got up this morning, Owen had put the last train car together all by himself.  All that was left was the big gantry crane.  As you can guess, Owen LOVES it!  Thank you SO much to Grandma and Grandpa Cas for this.  Owen also got money from Grandma and Grandpa Cox (thank you to them as well), and he is likely going to combine that with a refund from another lego set, so he should have another "big" gift in the very near future.  :)

What has Elsie been up to?
For starters, Owen and I treated Elsie and Mommy right for Valentine's Day.  They got flowers and the biggest box of candy we could find.  Happy to report that we ate the whole thing.  :)

Elsie is still coming up with crafts, challenges, and other imaginative things to do each weekend.  A few weeks ago we did stick art...

...and everyone's came out great except mine.  It was terrible but then again I've never claimed to be an artist.  :)

We've been playing a lot of fetch with Millie

Elsie got Music Student of the Month for February.

Last weekend she put on a puppet show...

Just look at her go!

We couldn't be more proud of both of our kids.  They amaze us and inspire us every day!
